Artsprojekt

A modest range of products emblazoned with my doodles can now be found on Artsprojekt.

iPad or iPhone just not as cool as they used to be? Fret not! Simply apply one of the cases from my store to instantly restore you gadget's desirability - be the envy of your family, friends and school dinnerladies! But the magic of shopping for items you could probably live without doesn't stop there - you'll also find stickers and badges which will allow you to perform this marvellous transformation to all manner of objects. Just imagine it. Hard to think of anything that wouldn't look better with a few stickers slapped on it, isn't it? The able bodied amongst you can even choose from a selection of skateboards!

Take a look, and tell your friends! All profits go towards keeping me in flared trousers and that expensive French moustache shampoo I like so much.

Frazetta Tribute Exhibition

I'm delighted to report that two of my paintings ( Selkie and Snow Hunters ) have been selected for inclusion in Gallery Provocateur's upcoming Frank Frazetta Tribute exhibition. It's a genuine thrill to know my humble pieces will be sharing wallspace with works from artists such as Daren Bader, Christopher Shy, Cos Koniotis and Dave Dorman, to name just a few, and it's wonderful to be involved in a celebration of the guy who almost single-handedly defined modern fantasy art, Frank Frazetta.

The exhibition opens on March 18, 2011 and runs for 3 months at Gallery Provocateur, 2125 N Rockwell, Chicago, IL 60647, USA. All gallery proceeds are being donated to charity. More information here - Gallery Provocateur

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, boys and girls! I hope Santa gives your stockings a thorough stuffing, and if it's cold where you are please dress more appropriately than the young lady in this picture if you venture outside.

( In her defense, she has at least popped on a furry stole to keep her shoulders warm and she's only nipping out to pick up some fags and tinnies... )

Have a good one all!

Shubs shows up on South Park!

A recent episode of South Park, Coon 2 : Hindsight, includes a segment in which Cthulhu and associated Elder Gods are released upon the world when oil company DP accidentally drills into another dimension. I judge this as blogworthy for two reasons:

1. Cthulhu's in it.

2. There appears to be some cross-dimensional connection between the creators and me. Or at least that's the conclusion I'm inclined to draw having noticed the similarity between the head of this eldritch horror from the show and my Shub-Niggurath artwork.

Evidence that whispering things from beyond space are guiding the hands of artists across the globe, and that Trey Parker, Matt Stone and I have all had our consciousnesses penetrated by the same chattering terror? It looks that way.

Have you seen this man?

This guy spent the whole weekend of the British International Comics Show defacing books, cards and prints with his signature. I couldn't decipher his untidy scrawl ( clearly not someone who spends much time around pens and pencils ) but be on the lookout for this hooligan at other shows around the UK.

Come to think of it, if you do spot him ( maybe at Memorabilia - NEC Birmingham, Nov. 20 / 21 ) you might consider purchasing some of his wares. Poor chap looks as if he could use a haircut.

Just joking! That's me! I had a great time at BICS this past weekend. It's a fun and very friendly show and I met a lot of jolly pleasant folks. I'm looking forward to next year already..! Thanks to the charming Richard Bruton over at the FPI blog for the photo.

Hell Devil!

A cover for the 'Hell Devil' EP by metal band Amadis. When an art brief includes a medieval knight, a pistol-weilding nun, an evil nemesis, a space suited hero riding a terrorbird and wielding a magical broadsword, a supercharged death racer, an apocalyptic bare-chested badass discharging his AK-47 into the air and a t-rex equipped with laser guided missiles, you know you've landed a fun gig..!

Plus, the band rock! Check 'em out -

Monsters!

Some beasties done for Wizards of the Coast. Painting these dudes was a big deal for me because after years illustrating various other RPG products, this was my first work for the big daddy, Dungeons and Dragons.

As a teenage lad I'd sit in my bedroom marvelling at art from the likes of Jeff Easley and Larry Elmore in the D&D books and imagine my own humble scribbles on those pages one day. It took a little while ( over twenty years! ) but it was worth the wait - opening a copy of Monster Manual 3 to see one of my doodles peering out was a little dream come true.
